Exmouth Christmas trip 2022-2023

Tony, Arnold and I had a good trip up to Exmouth over the 2022-2023 Christmas/New year period, pretty windy, but not too hot luckily. We didn't land heaps of fish (partly because of the the weather & style of fly fishing we like to concentrate on) but did get some quality highlight fish like a b...

February FOTM - The Black 'n' Barred

February’s fly of the month is the Black ‘n’ Barred. This fly is basically a black version of the Pink Thing fly and a derivative of the Whistler pattern. Along with the Pink Thing it has become another of Australia’s most popular flies for Barramundi, but it’s also a great fly for lots of other spe...

December FOTM - The Backing Rod Popper

December’s fly of the month is the Backing Rod Popper originally shown to us (SWFRWA) by Peter Morse (not sure who actually developed it) as a cheap, easy to tie, popper that creates a good silhouette from below and pushes out heaps of surface commotion. This fly is a very effective popper fly that ...

Re: November FOTM - The Bunny Fly

The mono weed/snag guard fitted to these flies can be folded down at 90 degrees or even cut in half into two downward facing tabs after being removed from your fly box before fishing them.

November FOTM - The Bunny Fly

November’s fly of the month is the Bunny fly. This fly is a baitfish pattern that has tremendous movement (once zonker strip is properly wetted) in the water due to the fine rabbit hair on the zonker strips used in its construction. Pretty much any fish that eats baitfish can be caught on this fly i...
