I use Cal's 2 speed grease. It's the biz. I purchased mine from Jack Erskine in QLD many moons ago. But you can buy it from a few places online in Oz. The tan cloured one is for drag washers. There's a purple grease for bearings & gears, however I use the tan on everything, screw threads, bearin...

James if your wading there's also a smaller boat pen with adjacent flat down river in front of the apartments in North Freo. You'll find the previously mentioned fish there. Best fished during the neap tides and an hour either side of low...or when you get chance.

I thought that backing tag end was from a bimini twist/spider hitch not just the end of a loop of backing. Sorry no idea.
But there's way more knowledgeable people on this forum than me that may be familiar with this method or provide an answer.

I tie a seven turn nail knot using some thin braid about 30mm up from the end of the braided mono. I tighten the nail knot just enough so i can slide it down to wear the braided mono just starts to unravel then cinch the nail knot down hard.
