Re: Meeting Tuesday 7 July 2020 (Note new venue)

I have been drinking the Aldi gin,Tony, and it's not working. I'm no prettier today than I was last time you saw me.

Hirdy have you ever thought that consuming that gut rot may have got you into this problem in the first Place ;) ;) :D
Nah, I've had the problem for longer than Aldi has been in Western Australia. :D

Birchy, unless you like beards, the barmaid hasn't gotten any prettier. ;)

Re: Meeting Tuesday 7 July 2020 (Note new venue)

I will not be casting in the park before this meeting. I'm recuperating from abdominal surgery and I'm not allowed to do anything strenuous for a few more weeks.

See you at the meeting though.

Cheers

Re: Backing

Hollow braids are the things I use, so I can talk a little on why I prefer them. Splicing: This is the main reason I use hollow braid. Splicing allows a 100% breaking strain join without any knots. That join can be a spliced end loop or it can be spliced line connection, joining two separate section...

Re: 10wt flats line.

The flats pro is one line weight heavy. For that rod, I'd go with the 9wt version Birchy.

Of course, if by "flats line" you mean a floating line (because yanks think flats are all 18" deep), the 9wt Rio Permit is also good choice for that rod.
