Exmouth - the coming of age

Post by GDay » Thu May 09, 2019 8:13 pm

On our recent family trip to Exmouth for April school hols I introduced Cam to his first taste of serious saltwater fly fishing - until then he had caught a few herring, tailor and small mulloway on fly around Mandurah and the Murray..
He took to it like a duck to water and chose to fish fly only for the 2 weeks.
He got to experience all the usual frustrations and pain along the way but learnt a lot about reading the water, sight casting and the merits of Olive over White ;)
No better way to teach a young bloke how to cast than stick them in front of hungry fish.
The trip included a night sleeping on the tinny under the stars at the bottom of the gulf.
His biggest queenie nudged a metre (a few over 90) and his biggest goldie was 85cm.
My biggest Queenie was a PB at 1.07.
Cam came home with line burn as a badge of honour.
Return trip booked for next year...can't wait.

Here's a couple of pics.
