dampier bastards

Post by wade stenhouse » Tue Nov 24, 2015 11:35 am

Hey all.
Finally had the chance to get out for a fish on sunday after working 3 weeks straight. Was quite windy most of the day so decided to hit up the inside of the dampier burrup to stay out of the wind. Target species was the blue bastard. After dropping 4 fish i finally popped my bastard cherry. Lol. Had shots at prob 10 fish throughout the day. Cloud cover was making it hard to spot them. Landed my second fish as we were about to call it a day. Also caught lots of small gts, queenies, little tuskies and a ripper of a mangrove jack at 47cm sight cast on a little rock bar on the 8 weight which ate self tied pink thing! My mate also caught a double header of 50cm jacks on the same rock bar on a rooster popper. Was very cool to watch them smash a surface lure. Anyway heres a few pics. Will be putting these fish up for club records as i have noticed that those species catorgories are vacant.
Cheers Wade.

Cool stuff Wade!

See if you can convince your mate to be a little more subtle in his clothing colours next time though. :)

Sorry Wade just saw this post, to much work at this time of year, haven't been on the forum for a month :o Awesome fish mate, I'm very jealous, BB's are at the top of the tree with Permit when it comes to flats site fishing in my opinion well done ! :) After your mates effort you may have to try some fly rod poppers for those Jacks !

Hi all,

We went for a morning fish today, the BBs were skittish as, we would have seen 12or so. I only got a good shot at one, i was way to slow for the rest..

Saw plenty of fish all in all. The misses ended up with a 400mm spango, i got a 500mm Tuskie and John got a 7lb and 20lb Golden Trevally- the second was a cracka.

Quote of the day from John was" don't worry it's only a Permit" as I fumbled around. 3 mins later we were amongst a school of 100 or more Milkies.

John had Kindly taken us out for the day to see how his boat went as we are looking at building the same boat, now a confirmed decision.
