Fly tying material available during Easter

Post by Andre Rossouw » Tue Mar 24, 2020 1:26 pm

Hi guys

While these are crazy times and the lack of toilet paper is giving everyone the shits, lets not forget that Easter is also the season where arts and crafts supplies are a plenty.

In my local Woolworths I found some "Happy Easter Ribbon" which is just thin Mylar tubing. I paid $3.00 for one pack which contained the following colours and lengths: pearl (3m) ; gold (3m) and silver (3m).

There are many uses for Mylar tubing in fly patterns but the most used one is the Gotcha fly (https://www.saltwaterflies.com/gotcha_tying.html) which is mainly a Bonefish fly but can be used for Bream, Skippy and Tarwine to name a few.

So when you do risk a trip to the shops and feel disappointed with the lack of you favourite 4ply Toiler Paper and the many restrictions on other food items, remember to visit the Easter section and stock up on tying materials.
