Bay of Rest access

Post by Torren » Mon Aug 17, 2020 10:10 am

Hey guys,
Does anyone have any info on the access track to the bay of rest?
From what I've heard is, you need to pay the Exmouth Homestead owners to access the bay of rest the same as launching from the bottom of their station.

Torren this was the track we us to use years ago, I think it’s where the sub terrain works are supposed to start working.
It was outside of Exmouth station at their northern boundary, then.
4wd essential can be very soft or rutted up by the locals, 2 sand bluffs to cross need a bit of a run up.
Good luck.

Hey Torren, I can't remember who, but someone who had recently returned from Exmouth said that the track into the Bay of Rest, in particular the gate at the station boundary is now closed/locked and you have to drive down to the station (Exmouth) and pay for the key to get you in !!!! apparently ?  NOT GOOD !

Good luck to them locking a gate there - it'll last 5 minutes I suspect.

I've heard that they are in the process of setting up an online payment option where you will be sent a code for the gate lock. Atleast it will save the drive down to the homestead.

Just drive straight east to the point and then down the beach.

How soft is the sand if you drive down from Learmonth? I guess if you will be chasing Permit, you are still technically on the Station and should pay?

The new fence line runs all the way to the north side of Wappet Creek. The access to Heron Point and all other routes to the water south of Wappet Creek are blocked off as far as I was able to tell when I checked it out yesterday. You can still launch a tinny at the little slip on Wappet Creek but you can't drive onto the shoreline to the south of the Creek. One of the gates - the one to Herron Point, has a combination which suggests it could be an option if the homestead gives you the code. I tried calling the number on their facebook page but could not get through.....so I was unable to get to BOR from the shore. I launched my boat at Learmonth jetty beach - where I came back there where ten other cars with trailers parked on the shoreline which seemed quite a lot.
