Meeting Tuesday 1 February 2022

Post by Tony Ong » Thu Jan 27, 2022 11:28 am

A happy new year to one and all.
For the first meeting of 2022, we have a couple of interesting talks on offer.
Mick has been up in Broome, for work, as well as a little bit of family time. In between, he's managed to head out with a local Broome guide, who's put him onto a couple of cool captures. Hear how Mick went on his trip.
Gary is going to fill us in on some of the Westport development that is in the planning stages in Cockburn Sound. He'll talk about how Fisheries will be involved, and what they will be looking at. As part of this, he'll also explain a little about the snapper stocking program (Snapper Guardians), as well as the Yellowtail Kingfish stocking program, that has been running for the past few years.
We have had two field days since the last meeting. Upper Swan field day in December, as well as Mandurah in January. Justin and Martin will fill us in on how those field days went. We have quite a few away field days coming up the next few months. Due to public holidays and school holidays, there may be two field days in the same month. Please have a look at the club calendar for further details. Details in the below link.

The next 3 field days are Walpole in early February, Blackwood River in late February, Denmark in early April, and Albany in May. There is limited accommodation booked for these dates. Once these spots are filled, you'll have to organize your own accommodation if you wish to come down. These south west WA estuaries fish best in the summer months, hence the reason why we run all away field days at this time of the year. It's well worth making the effort to get down and fish these systems.
We'll be looking to get some club shirts organized this year. I'll have a few shirts along on the night for sizing and styles. We have some indicative pricing. We would just like to see how many people would be interested in a club shirt.
Remember the Covid rules when attending the meeting. Masks are still mandatory, and please sign in when you arrive at the hall.
Should be a good night. Hope to see you all there.
