new boat?

Post by Spencer King » Mon Feb 15, 2016 8:25 pm

Sold my trailcraft today so now on the lookout for the next boat. Anyone had anything to do with the 4.8m polycrafts? One just come on the market with a 80hp 4 stroke yamaha and an electric motor. One concern i had about them was the weight.

Yeh Spence, I've only ever been in one (Ali Barber's) and they are a little heavy and pretty wet from what I remember.

I' m in the same position now as Spencer was.
What is the boat you ended up with Spence?
In what way does it mean by 'the polycraft is heavy?' (I have no intention of picking one up.)
Does this effect performance, Launching or towing?

I ended up with the 4.5m trailcraft profish, same as Brian. The polycraft weight comes into play in a number of places,
1. heavy to tow so more fuel.
2. larger motor needed to get boat up to good speed, I like my boats to do approx 30kn. Larger motor obviously uses more fuel plus cost more to service.
3. Beach launching a heavy boat is obviously more difficult then a lighter boat.
4. Heavier boat will require a bigger electric motor if you want to fit one?

Thanks Spence.
What is length of your boat and what horsepower motor?
Does any one have, or know of a similar craft for sale anywhere?
I'm looking for something around 4.2 with console that I can handle comfortably by myself.
