Nope, an Abel.
This one was on a Sage reel and the pic made it to a Flylife cover.

Costa Rica and big trout.

Got the heads up this week that in conjunction with Nick at Gin Clear media, Scotty Coghlan from Western Angler is putting together a trip to Costa Rica and Jurassic lake later this year.

While interested , I have other commitments this year but anyone who wants more info can check it out here ...

Nice work Noddy.
I've hooked smaller sambos on fly , always seem to get smoked back
to structure.
Where you fishing crazy deep like when you target the Dhu's ?

9 metres Mike. All that good living paid off. Don’t worry. I’ve lost more that a few over the years.

Re: How good is Perth Metro

Not really. When Adam is home from Tassie we get a bit done, just don’t say much about it.
This was a pretty good fish though.

How good is Perth Metro

Got this one with Adam on Friday arvo. He had a crack at a little snapper but he didn’t reckon on me being locked and loaded.
10 wt One, 10 kg tippet in 9 m of water. 1200 long and 20 plus kg.
20 mins of rod bending with some 100 m runs from the anchored boat.
Pretty pleased with it.

Re: Tangle tubs

Cool.
I have my man chasing up enough pipe for the job- better than it going in the bin.
I’ll let everyone know when I’ve it.

Tangle tubs

Anyone looking for a bit of 300 mm pvc to make a tangle tub stick your hand up - free of course.
You’ll have to sort out a base yourself but I’ve made a plug to flare the top that anyone is free to use.
I’ve got access to some but don’t want to have a load of it hanging around at home - got more ...

Re: Rio GT flyline for a 12wt?

Yep the 400 is good on an 11. Tried mine on the 12 at Rompin and its underweight especially for the sort of flies used there.
The 475 is great on a 12. Like the Outbounds I think they are a little short in overall length. 120 feet would be better.

Re: Milkfish fly hooks

Based on what we experienced at CXI the biggest issue is finding actively feeding fish. Forget those ones just milling around with their big ass tails taunting us. Look for those with their O ring mouths and pointy heads sticking out of the water.
Accurate casts in their path with flies no longer ...

Re: Milkfish fly hooks

I doubt the WA Milkies are any different to the CXI versions or those in the Seychelles.
So SL 12 in # 2 would be the go to hook. The couple Milkies I've seen landed including the one I got were on those and we went hard on 16 lb flouro tippets.
