Re: Furling leaders - Youtube

Yeah checked the video, same but when Im pinching in fingers Im ensuring the energy is held in the twist really tight. It does get quite tight. He has not a lot of energy stored in his leader there.

Except, the line goes (2 to 1 strand) or (4 to 2 to 1 strand then back to back uni tippet)

Re: Furling leaders - Youtube

Sorry Graeme

When I was referring trolling, I was referring to trolling with braid and bibbed minnow. I only twist the line on itself up so much then surgeon knot to a single strand of mono rather than 4 to 2 strands not that you cant.

Ill check the video to ensure I have the right one. I hadn't ...

Furling leaders - Youtube

For those of you that 'havent' seen a means of 'hand spinning' furled leaders here's a video on the subject

I had a more simple video somewhere. Be prepared for cardboard voice over.

I found this technique good also for 12inch abrasion tippet resistance on fish like Barra on non-fly also. It means ...

Fly fishing the Swan in 1898 - Mullet

Friday 22 July 1898

The impression has prevailed among anglers for some time past that fly fishing was of no use on the Swan River, but the writer on Saturday last saw a mullet weighing at least a pound caught with a fly resembling a flying ant just about a hundred yards on the city side of the ...

Re: AGM - Colour of flies

Interesting corals under a UV light glow a large array of luminescent colours. While our own eyes have limited range, certain fish species must see in the spectrum of even of low levels of UV off the moon in low swell.

It is said by sceintist that some sharks can see & hunt by star light.

Re: AGM - Colour of flies

All makes sense max - when freshwater goes brown golds etc from tanin in the water, same same.

10 metres of red light would be enough for most those species like the barras, mulloway, Giant Herring etc feeding in relatively shallow water in the dirty stuff. Obviously its only part of there hunting ...

Re: The age of Bream

Were the sharp teef upstream Yosuke?

It must be the mussels that make their lips go blue? Smashing your face against a pylon all the time would do that.

We need to take pictures of teeth so we can go Darwinian on the Butcheri

I never catch anything big enough to see teeth so any other photos ...

Re: AGM - Colour of flies

Raleigh scattering in the background. Notice the irridescent blue in the lower fins which maybe indicitve of mussel consumption like bream or is it because they are closly related and adopt this colouring not easily seen by humans?
Under UV street lights maybe a different story.
