Graeme and I are leaving in the morning, latest forecast does not show that much rain tomorrow. We plan on staying at Minilya tomorrow night then drive thru to Exmouth in the morning.

Leaving tomorrow as well unless the cyclone does something different in the meantime, not keen to drive through as it will be very windy and maybe rain at exmouth end, might camp a bit closer and drive in saturday, right when the low crosses the coast, could be an interesting drive.

Keeping an eye on that cyclone, its forecast to weaken but at the moment it's a cat 4 , almost cat 5.

I'm in Exmouth at the moment very grey sky and no rain, and little wind. Gulf looks green.
Roads shouldn't be a problem, most of the washout where cleared out last cyclone, a lot of signs missing on the Exmouth road.

Yep,
That will be the plan. Leave tomorrow and camp overnight for an early arrival in Exmouth on Saturday. We'll have food, beer and cooking facilities so if the roads are closed we'll be right.
See you tomorrow Mat.

For anyone camping overnight at Minilya etc and driving in in the morning, the cyclone is now forecast to cross the coast as a cat one around 8am saturday, somewhere around Ningaloo, and this flood warning has been issued ...

Flooding is expected to develop in the Western Pilbara District on Saturday and Sunday. Moderate to heavy rainfall associated with with Severe Tropical Cyclone Quang is forecast for the Western part of the Pilbara district starting from Friday afternoon and extending over the weekend.

List of catchments where flooding may develop:

Lyndon-Minilya Rivers

Onslow Coastal Rivers

As i'm really not prepared for a very early drive i expect trying to sneak in before any possible road issues may be difficult, in a bit of a quandery whether to stop short and chance it or go the whole trip , sounds like flooding may even be a chance friday night ,...hMMMM / any thoughts from those driving up tomorrow ? Mybe might sneak through early saturday, if they don't close the road pre-emptively ! ?

If you are worried about closures ring the main roads on the way thru, you might have to go up and around burkett.
