Boneheads 2014

Post by Dave Bailey » Wed Jan 09, 2013 10:07 am

Given we usually decide the timing and venue for Boneheads trips a year out I thought it might be a good time to start thinking about some ideas for 2014. A couple of options mentioned last year appeal to me:

- Exmouth in the Sept/Oct/Nov timeframe for something different, and possibly sails/cobia etc. in the gulf
- Shark Bay in March - the small taste we had last year was really good.

Anyone else got any other ideas or comments?

Dave.

Dave - Shark Bay would be my choice - we know it can fire then, has plenty of options for boats and shore-based and the shorter drive is the icing on the cake.

I'm keen for Shark Bay also...if XI is out of the question
I'm also keen on a location that would require us to get off the beaten track and camp.....but thats just me...

Boneheads 2014 - confirmation of dates and location
It has been decided to hold Boneheads 2014 back in Exmouth but at a different time of the year - late August/early September.
The dates are Saturday August 30th (check-in) to Sunday September 7th (check-out), coinciding with a great week of tides.
Boneheads has never been held at this time of the year (normally Mar-May). This change of season will provide opportunities to target different species and also ensure the water quality is not impacted by the aftermath of any cyclones or the Northerly breezes that can dirty up the gulf.
The dates are Saturday August 30th (check-in) to Sunday September 7th (check-out) - 8 nights.
We have secured a booking at the same resort we stayed this year - they liked us so much they have not increased the rates, despite it being in-season ; http://www.exmouthescaperesort.com.au
The cost will be $800 per head (same as 2013), payable in instalments. This equates to only $92.50 per night which is great value considering the quality of the accommodation/facilities and the access to boat washing facilities. This fee will also include a healthy contribution towards dinner on the last night. I am happy to report that Peter Morse will again be joining us as the chaperone for the trip.
To lock in your spot for next year you will need to transfer a deposit of $100 to the following account, with an email confirmation to gday29@bigpond.com. In the email subject heading please enter ; Boneheads 2014-your name-Deposit#1.
There are a total of 32 spots available, with preference given to those who attended the prior year - given we only had 30 attendees this year there will be at least 2 spots for newbies but likely more given attrition.
The account details for the deposits are the same as last year;
ANZ Bank
BSB 016-353
Account 493091763
No cash will be accepted - only direct deposit.
If you have any questions please give me a call on 045 9199919.
cheers
