Casting Day Sunday 21 June 2015
Re: Casting Day Sunday 21 June 2015
Someone brought along an Orvis Helios 2 10wt rod to Paul Arden's casting clinic last year. If whoever that was is coming along to the casting day on the 21st, can you bring it along please? I'm very keen to try it with some lines I'm familiar with.
Tony, if you're bringing your 10wt SALT, I'd like to compare that with my rods and with that Helios 2 if it's there.
I'll bring a selection of 10wt rods and my 'glass rods (4, 5, 6 and 10wt rods). One of my 10wts may surprise a few people.
Cheers,
Graeme

Will do Graeme. I've just finished building a 12wt Salt and will bring that down as well.

So we'll run a beginners clinic at the start of the day. I noticed that there were a few guys struggling with the double haul at the Moore river field day. We'll do a couple of little drills to help develop the double haul.

If there's enough interest, we'll run a beginners clinic. Hopefully give you a basic understanding of fly casting and terminology used, as well as giving you some drills to go away to practice with.
Thanks Tony,
Well I'm certainly interested, I will likely bring along a friend who is interested also.
Looking forward to meeting a few people, and learning a few things.
Ill be interested in joining the club from thereon.
Do us beginners need to bring anything?

If you have your own gear, it helps to learn on that. Otherwise come along, as there will probably be a spare rod or two around the place.

I'm interested in trying a couple of 6wt rods (in the market for one to take to Christmas Island). So if people have one, can they bring it down please...I will have a reel and line.
While it would be good to try a Sage One and possibly a Salt...I'm probably not going to spend this type of money on a rod that I won't use all that often.
I keen to try a TFO if someone has one. Also any other rod people think is reasonable.
If you want to sell it...all the better - but I am willing to buy a new one!
