There are bream in the Murray River but they are very reluctant to take a fly. I have been trying for several years
I have had most interest on top water but yet to land a fish. I have been trying to perfect my topwater flies to get better hookups when they do occur.
Fish from Murray bend upstream, some amazing snags up that way. but also there are some reedy areas up around where Nth/Sth Dandalup rivers enter system that are well worth a try. A couple of weeks ago I fished right up to Pinjarrah. I ran into a couple of comp fishers who had hooked around a doz fish, really pissed me off, especially when they tried to convert me to a spin rod. They thought I was crazy to even try with a fly rod.
A Minkota would almost be essential in this area but give it a try and let us know how you go

all that the artful dodger has said is good stuff, I would just add that Top Water happens early early early as soon as that sun hits the water you may find few in the shadows. Best to hit the water on first light. Have not really spent a lot of time on the sunset side of things on that river.
Sub surface I have found gold flashy stuff to be the most productive.
