Re: Quiz
Ha ha , lucky guess.
Surprised that it fell off while going forward , the thrust would have been pushing
the prop onto the shaft.
Thought you must have been reversing away from the ramp.

Re: Quiz
No didn't get it back. So there is a SS prop (have an idea this one is about $600) in 3m of murky muddy water about 100m off the Belmont ramp. Going on how we drifted perhaps 2-300 square meters...and we didn't have a functioning boat to look for it.
Hopefully will 'get it back' from the service company.
Dropped off when at idle. I'm not a mechanical engineer but wouldn't it be 'thrusted' forward onto the motor when motor was going forward...that is the force to make the boat go forward. Guessing nut came undone due to vibration and no load (apart from spline) when doing high forward speed and then weight of the prop caused it to slip of the recently lubricated shaft.

Re: Quiz
I thought I’d invite a few fellow fly fishos on board for a field day an just one drama after the next with my engine
I could have thrown it over board that day
But this resulted in putting Graeme on a flat with mullet as far as the eye could see
