One more thing I meant to say.

Too many things are going the way of the touch screens for my liking.
Good for others but not for me. Have you ever tried to look at a sounder screen after too many finger prints have been smeered over it from excited fisho's showing you the bait or where on a gps map there is fishy looking ground.
It's usually worse when there is a bit of light on the screen.

I have naturally greasy skin as it is and don't want to be spending my time trying to clean a screen on a rocking boat.

I've seen my mates ipad after lots of use. I couldn't use it. To me it's like getting smuges on my sun glasses.

I hear what you're saying Sami. Only reason I was keen on the touch screen was it has the down imaging built into the unit. One less thing to worry about fitting out the boat. Big thanks to Brian with his help on interpreting the wiring diagrams. More or less everything is in now, so just need to get out an use it. Will be using the boat on Sunday for the field day, and will bring it down to the weigh in for those who wish to have a look.

It's easy enough to fit an anti glare screen protector - which solves the fingerprint smudge issue and makes the screen more usable in direct sunlight.

I have to have a screen protector on mine. The salt spray, fingers, etc. lasts approx 2 years. I do also have a microfibres cloth and spray way glass cleaner that I use regularly as we'll.
