Venue for the casting day will be Nedlands Rugby grounds. It's on the river end of The Broadway, Nedlands.
Starting 10.00 am. If you know someone interested in starting out in fly fishing, bring them along.

Will bring along my arsenal. Be very interested to cast a 10wt BVK/TiCrX or sage motive if anyone has one.

Just a reminder that the casting day is on this Sunday. It looks like we'll have to contend with some wind. A spray jacket or change of clothes may be handy as well. We'll probably run a sausage sizzle as well for lunch.

Hope the sun shines for you guys, I have family commitments so will not be coming along.

Despite the cold and wind, was a great day out. Great to meet new people and try some fancy toys. Highlights were probably a cast of the 8wt sage method and 8wt outbound on it. Man that thing just rocked! Also was great to have a wave of one of the epic glass rods. But most of all just watching most guys throwing sweet loops was really really impressive to see. Oh and the big guy chasing the cops around with an axe was a little entertaining too!

Thanks to Tony for spending some time with me giving some great solid pointers in an easy to understand way. I have many hours of park work ahead of me but walked away with something much better than what I got there with.

Not only did I forget entirely about the casting day, but I was unable to get away for it anyway. Sorry I missed the chance to meet up with everyone.

Another great day of park-casting with the club. It would be nice to have it on a calm day just once, but this is Perth, and it just goes to show which rods (and casters) can perform well in windy conditions.

For me, the highlights were meeting up with Brad, casting the Sage ONE 7wt, Brad's 4wt MHX rod, the Orvis T3 that Roger picked up for a song at the auction and the G.Loomis 10wt Mega. Mike's new 4wt was also interesting, but I wanted to try a 4wt line on it (I should have done that, since I had one of them in my box of tricks.)

Luckily for me, none of those rods sang to my heart though.

Yeah, the One 7wt keeps calling.

I got to try that 7wt one with the orange line- not sure what the line was. Some rather fine gear indeed. Much to nice for my grubby mitts...for now...

Tony, I went out with the 6wt at the park this arvo (in no wind) and everything felt alot better and smoother with the arm in close and not snapping the wrist at the end of the stroke. Started short like you said and slowly got into it further. Definitely going to take some time each arvo possible and keep with it. Again, thank you.
