My blank and grip was delivered by Mudhole in six days from payment, pretty happy.
I now have all the materials except the eyes, which I hope to get locally.
I am now really keen to get started. So whats next?

I have everything to build a Sage one 5wt except for the guides. I thought I could buy them locally but was kidding myself there.
I will have to get them from Mudhole.
My problem is that I have a guide chart from Sage that says that I need 10 guides, 4x1/0t, 2x1t, 1x1, 1x2, 1x4, 1x12.
Mudhole can supply me with a recommended kit containing, 12-10 5-4-3-3-2-2-1-1-1. (2DFS-2)
I have absolutely no idea what these numbers mean!
I am going to fit the rod out with titanium guides so do not want to order the wrong ones.
I would appreciate some advice from someone who knows what they are doing.

Not sure I qualify to answer, but I'm making an 8 foot 5wt with Fuji single foot Ti frame guides with the SiC inserts. Are they the ones you mean, or are you getting the wire guides with a TiCH coating? If you're getting the ones with SiC inserts, those numbers you've got are definitely wrong, since they refer to the wire guides.
I got six size 6J, a 10J and a 16mm stripping guide, plus the 6J (4) matching tip. The "(4)" means the tube has a 4/64" internal diameter. Size 6J guides are 6mm outer diameter on the frame, so they are about 4.5mm internal diameter. No wonder you're confused! I know I was and it took a few weeks of research before I finally found out what the numbers mean and what the actual internal diameters of the guides were.
(The reason I've got so many size 6J guides is due to reading
this article.)
Cheers,
Graeme
PS - I'm returning the reel seat and exchanging it for a different colour. The website colour was not even close to the one that showed up.

That means I'm not quite ready to go yet.

… and here was the best item I found during that research.
Print this out to use it. One of the pages has the sizes of guides at life size printed on it.

Roger,
For such a nice rod, my suggestion is to get yourself the following from mud hole individually, rather than in a kit. The sizes are as per your post, as recommended by sage
The 't' suffix stands for thin wire....which the guides I suggest below are. They are very light wt Ti alloy snakes
1 x fugi size 12 stripper. Ti frame with sic insert ( top of the wozzer) part # TLNSG you could also try the TKWSG
1 x rec size 4 snake guide. Ti Ni alloy. part# RSN
1 x rec size 2. Same part # as above
3 x rec size 1. SAME part # as above
4 x rec size 1/0. Same part # as above
And a BFT, or CFT, or XFT or BLFT or NFT or Bgft or Ebft American tackle or pac bay tip top. Which ever colour takes your fancy. Weird how the two brands have the same looking tip tops and part numbers.....
The tip diameter for the 9ft 5wt sage one, from the mudhole website, is 3.5 so suggest you get 2 sizes to be sure that one fits, say 1x 3.5 and 1x 4. One of the 2 will definately fit but Worst case scenario is you'll have to visit Rohan and trial fit a few and grab one that fits from him. Note the size is not mm but 64ths
Hope that helps
Martin

Thanks for the info Guys.
It was much easier to order the guides individually than I thought.
I was a bit wary in ordering anything in a kit anyway. I bought a handle kit complete with reel seat and it turned out the reel seat was 'very ordinary'. I just ordered a sexy new one along with the guides from Mudhole. This has been quite a learning experience for me and I won't take my other rods for granted anymore
I now have a spare reel seat if anyone is looking for one.

Yea, awesome info, I plan on building a TFO BVK 10WT, American Tackle AL10 reel seat with REC and Fuji guides, will be finalising the order over the next few days.
Do you have any recommendation on a brand of thread colour preserver? I built my first rod earlier in the year which I purchased through J Stockard and they only do Rod Dancer epoxies and the likes. I used the rod dancer colour preserver as directed but still got some problems with it soaking in some places. I've also noticed that even though I kept the remaining rod epoxy in a cool dark cupboard for the last few months the one part has already started to yellow, not good sign I assume, I'll try the Prokote rather.
Alternative would be to use the Pacific Bay NCR thread that does not require thread preserver.
