Hi all.
Seems like we missed announcing this at the last meeting. We have a tying day coming up this month.
Sunday 23 July 2017
Venue: Bluewater Myaree. 85-87 North Lake Rd, Myaree.
Start around 10.30am.
Our tying days have always been very popular. It's usually an informal day, and a chance to get together and tie some flies. If there is a particularfly that you would like to learn, post up here, so that we can organise the right materials to bring along on the day.

I wouldnt mind learning how to tie a crab fly. What materials and things do I need for one of these bad boys?!

There's lots of different styles of crabs out there Dee. Need to work out what style crab you want to tie. Maybe visit Rohan at Bluewater Myaree, or Dan at Flyworld. Pick a style you like and match the materials.
Merkin style crabs are a good starting point.
Unfortunately, I won't be at the tying day. Maybe one of the other guys will chime in.

Thanks Tony. I'll check it out and head into Dan to see what he has.

I'm keen on playing with some crabs!

Particularly using the ep brush to build the body, I'm half way there but struggle to keep the legs consistently spaced and on the same angle....

I'm interested in an EP Brush crab too.

sorry boys been pretty busy this week (music to Dave's ears :D ) I'll be there with the esky full of softdrinks/water, a sausage sizzle and nibbles on Sunday and I have been tying nothing but crabs the last 4 weeks so I'm more than happy to show a few guys how I tie my crabs with the 1.5 inch foxy brush (mainly).
Cheers Steve
