This is a very personal choice Daniel. Preferences vary greatly between people, and often between fishing situations ....

Floating? Intermediate? Sinking? Floating with an intermediate tip section? Long head? Short head? Double taper? Overweight? True to weight? Colour? Clear?

Right now, I'm a big fan of the Rio Single hand spey lines, either full floating or floating intermediate. Other people might not like the way they deliver a heavier fly (not great without a fair bit of practice.) Pretty good for overhead casting but EXCELLENT for Spey and roll casting (which I love doing).

Rio Gold is a good all-rounder in a floating line.

If winter weren't upon us (or is it?) you might even think outside the box and go with a Rio Flats Pro Stealth in a 6 wt. Chase giant herring with it in summer too. :)

Cheers,
Graeme
