Rio Coldwater Outbound Short Floating

Anyone know of a store in Perth that stocks this line in 6wt? Want to give it a go in Geo Bay and the blackwood for chasing whiting and bream.

Hi Brad
Any particuliar reason that you're choosing this line to target bream and whiting. The reason I ask is that the outbound short have very aggresive front tapers. It gives the line a very heavy splash down. Bream and whiting are spooky enough at the best of times.

Hi Tony,

It was recommended to me by a guy on another forum. I'm running a SA headstart floater on the six since taking it to the highland lakes in tassie. That line is good but needs tlc a bit in the salt I find. I also struggle keeping line up in loops at any decent distance and he said it is quite forgiving.

Do you have any other line recommendations that might suit?

Rio Gold is what I'm currently using. It's fine in the salt. Temprature range would be ok for SW just about all year. If you're fishing it on the boat on a 35+ day, you'll want a tangle tub or keep wetting the line down to keep it cool. Hope this helps.

Hi mate

Thanks- the Rio Gold looks like its a very popular line over here for light stuff both fresh and salt.

This SA Headstart is probably going to be more manageable in a tangle tub- Ive got the gear to make one of the willow bin ones that you guys are using- just need to finish it. I might give it a treatment with some line conditioner too and just keep using it til it dies.

Next time Im up for a bream line I will find the Rio and give it a run.
