My First on Fly

Keen to get my first fish on fly I planned to fish all weekend but with the wind being not so good for my level of casting/chucking I decided to head to golden ponds one of those places I had always planned to try but never got round to, Given the size of the place i figured it would also present a nice place to practice casting.
So I packed my gear in the car and full of excitement arrived an hour before they open. after the gates opened I proceeded to pay and head off for a fish i tried a few ponds and every colour in my fly box for about 2 hours with absolutely no joy.
It was frustrating to see schools of fish swim by look at my fly judge it and then decide"Nahh im not that hungry"
into what felt like my 400th cast for the morning a fellow fishing sings out at me I turn around and find one of the minute horses on site pulling my apples i had planned for morning tea out of my tackle bag and proceed to eat them in front of me.
by this time i figured I better grab a drink one of my last pieces of fruit sit down chill out then head back to fishing.
so after destressing and tying another clouser on i send out my cast right next to the fountain and after about 3 strips bang im on..... while keeping pressure on i proceed to freak out with all this line at my feet "what do I do with it this crap doesnt happen with my spin gear" so slowly letting line back out so i can use the reel im thinking im onto an awesome fish one for the record books and too my surprise it jump out the water and its a little baby barra of about 20cm im stoked get the little guy in ask a nearby fisher to take a photo and send the guy on his way. From that moment on im now hooked bye bye spin gear hello more fly gear. I proceeded to catch a further 4 more fish for the day with the biggest being around 50-60cm no exact sizes as I wanted the fish back in the water as soon as possible.
what an awesome place i had to make myself leave in the end and I plan to head back again this weekend to try the bream ponds.
