Hey guys just reporting some bad new and venting some steam, im posting this on the fly forums in the hope that people may recognise the gear if it turns up somewhere.
My 2013 SX DMAX ute was stolen this morning from Australia 11 Drive crawly in Perth between 730 – 830am, (whilst i was fishing)
It had all my Saltwater fly gear in the back of the cab as im living with my girlfriend, the ute was essentially my shed.
Now I was insured so ill be able to recover some of the costs of the vehicle. If its recovered I could get my gear back . However I don’t consider this likely so all my salt gear is now gone.
Im going to list my tackle here as best as I can remember it just in case it turns up on a forum or ebay at some point and one you come across it. Its highly unlikely that the numb nuts who stole my ute have any idea what the gear is,(Nor whats its worth) but its still worth ago.
As follows
Rods
3 x Hardy Proaxis Rods – 8,9 and 11 weights.
1X Beulah Surf rod (11 ft 2 hander)
1X 12,6 TCX 7WEIGHT (The Death Star)
1x Silstar spin rod 11ft and egg beater loaded with spider wire
Reels
1X Colton 911 Torrent with spare spool both with lines (Lines were SA 350 Grain inter and a shooting head setup with an out bound inter head on the other spool.
1x Colton Terrapin 1012 with spare spool with no lines
1x Allan Kraken 4 with spare spool both with lines. Lines were a rio F/I on one and a SA Sharkwave floater on the spool both 9 weights.
1X shilton and spare spool. Both spools are black and the reel body is silver so its very distinctive. The lines are a SA tarpon inter and a High D shooting head (I think).
1x Blue Tibor 7-8 with Wulff lost tip
Theres also various fly and lure boxes including bits and pieces of normal gear and a blue gortex rain jacket.
Not looking for sympathy just asking for folks to keep an eye out on any weird postings pertaining to fly gear in their travels.
Also I had a potential trip planned to Exmouth In March, So I could be in the market for another 9 weight. I loved my Hardys and may fork out for a 9 proaxis before I go, but If anyone has a similar style of rod or set up and they are thinking of parting with it for a reasonable price let me know.

Good news car recovered...guess where...Gosnells - No surprises there! Currently undergoing assessment by Allianz, from the little I've heard of so far the damage appears to minimal and limited to a broken window. All the fishing and outdoor gear I had in it appears to be gone though. Figure the boys in blue may recover it when they do their next round of ice lab busts in Gosnells.

Ill probably head out there when Im next in town and do a tour through the local cash converters.

Appreciate if people could keep their eyes out for the above gear, but I don't hold out much hope. I figure I have to take some responsibility as I had it visible in the car, and for some people I guess thats all the temptation they need.

I was thinking of heading up to Exmouth in March So I could be interested in some second hand gear. Am looking to set my self up with a good 9 or 10 weight outfit if anyones got something to sell on. To be honest I'm wary of loaners as Im paranoid id break it.

To give you an idea I really like the Hardy pro axis rods...and I find the BVK to be a noodle and I don't over line unless its a shooting head. To be honest I haven't tried much good gear in heavier weights. Ive a NRX which I like but its in a 6 weight. If anyone has any recommended rod/line combos for Exmouth that I should look at I'm all ears....But ill state I don't like full inters for shore based work...striping baskets annoy the hell out of me.

Cheers

Rick.

Glad you got the car back mate.

I've recently had a clear-out of my surplus gear, so I've got nothing to sell at the moment. I hope you get the stuff you need in time though.

Cheers,
Graeme
