Florida Trip Report

Post by Tony Ong » Fri Jun 27, 2014 4:42 pm

It's taken a while, but I've finally processed the photos from our Florida trip. I took 1400 photos on the trip. Managed to whittle it down to around 400.
Just a taste of what's to come for the upcoming July meeting.

Holes in the water.

Steve and I used China Southern Airlines to get to LA. They had the welcoming committee out for Steve.

Martin met us in LA, as he had a few hours to kill before flying down to Miami. Shopping at Bob Marriotts.

World Wide Sportsman was a mind bender.

Worldwide Sportsman had a fish tank in store.

Did I say we did a bit of shopping???

We got chatting to a guy at the bar overlooking the water at WW Sportsman. He gave us some stickers and some great advise about fishing for Tarpon. We spotted the gun in his boot. His comment was, 'Don't worry, it's loaded, but it's not cocked!'

Martin fits well into the American scene with the jarhead haircut and plaid shirt. :)

Sorry for time between posts.
We visited Robbies Dock. This would be our first chance to see Tarpon, as we hadn't started fishing yet. What an eye opener.

There were one or two boat yards in the area as well. Don't know how you you'ld go fly fishing out of some of these boats, but it sure would be fun trying.

This boat pretty much sums up our Florida experience.

Doesn't everyone have 4 x 300 ponies on the back of their boats???

The sales guy in this yard was pretty nice. He greeted us with 'Hi fellas. First 3 photos are free. It's $10 a shot after that.' :)
