Hi all.
We have a casting day coming up the last Sunday of this month.
Venue is Nedlands Rugby club grounds at the end of the Broadway in Nedlands.
Start time 9.30 till about 2.00.
We will be running an introduction to fly fishing, so if you know anyone keen to learn how to fly fish, please bring them along. We held our first clinic last year, and it was very well received. It's worth coming along and listen in, as there's always something you will pick up.
If you need some pointers on casting, there are a few members working towards their certified casting instructors.
This is also a good time to try out some new rod, reel and line combinations, as members will bring along some gear for all to try out.

Just a reminder that the casting day is this coming Sunday. We will be running an introduction to fly fishing course with a couple of members that are working towards their FFF CCI casting certification.
There's always lots of rods and reel to try out. Graeme will be bringing along a handful of Epic fibreglass rods. Quite a few guys getting into fibreglass, so come along and see what it's all about.
There's a couple of members with double handers, so hopefully they will bring them along as well. Mulloway under the bridges comes to mind when thinking of applications for the long rods. The other is chasing our Australian salmon land based using overhead casting.

And if someone has a Sage Peacock Bass, can they PLEASE bring it along on the day. I want to cast it side-by-side with a couple of my favourites for comparison.
Cheers,
Graeme

Will echo Tony`s post regarding Double Handed fly rods.
I picked up a Talon 12 footer to try and learn DOH to reach the channel
from shore under the Narrows.
Have managed a few salmon from the sand , but it wasn't pretty.
And I have blown my wrist.
Anyone with experience with double handers , much appreciated.

Perfect day for it. Was there briefly with my grandson, so I wasn't able to stay long to say hi to others. Was good to have a cast with Alex, he was saying, the freshwater open season doesn't apply to the rivers down south this year. I know about Redfin but for trout? After being away for so long, am itching to have a go. I wonder if any one here could confirm. Thanks.

Aah ok, no mention of open waters in the "Rec fishing guide 2015" but The "Rec South-West Guide" does mention places like Big Brook Dam, Murray, Serpentine, Warren river etc. So I take it Lefroy being a tributary of Warren should be good. Thanks again Alex for the tip.Rubin wrote:Perfect day for it. Was there briefly with my grandson, so I wasn't able to stay long to say hi to others. Lefroy is definately OK.
Below is from the regs in relation to the Warren.
"Fishing in the streams, brooks and tributaries flowing
into the rivers and dams above is also permitted
during the closed freshwater angling season."
Good luck!!!!
