Land based locations around Margaret River?

Goodday all, I'm heading down to Margaret River this weekend, any stand out land based spots to have a flick? Am thinking walking along Hamelin Bay and perhaps Dunsborough. Any tips appreciated.

Big area- a bit of an idea about where you are predominately staying would be a good start.

Dunsborough bay area is a good start I guess- lots of protected water if you want to shorebash and a few rocks to fish off as well. I'd be taking a stripping basket and fishing a sinking line if the weed isn't too bad.

I'd be wary of fishing along the west coast between the capes- big open beaches with powerful waves & high surf. Hamelin bay is a bit of an anomaly though.

Augusta & the Blackwood are also there. The new boat harbour at Augusta would definitely be worth a look.

Thanks Mat. Staying in Margaret River itself, right in the centre so anywhere is accessible. Will give it a fair crack on Saturday morning.

Go to gas bay Rd car park, take some pellets , can't help.like you said go early .
If you look at google maps there is a track going down to near the end of maggot river, probably out of the wind
Good change of small bream.

Maggot River though! I like it!

Bunker Bay lad, mate was catching salmon off the rocks there two weeks ago. Shouldnt be too long now! Cant wait!
