We have coming up another tying day.
We're allowed back into the Rocky Bay gym. Many thanks for organizing Gavin.

If you are new to fly tying, or would like to learn how to tie a particular fly, this day is not to be missed. This is also a good excuse for a get together and have a laugh with friends new and old.

If there is a particular fly that you would like to learn how to tie, please post up on here so that we can bring the materials needed to demonstrate how to tie that fly.

We have had requests to tie the following flies. I've attached the materials list below for anyone who would like to join in the tie.

Squid fly.
4/0 Gamakatsu sl12s.
55mm flymen shanks.
Chenille.
Saddle feathers
Flash
3inch ep foxy brush.
6mm stick on dome eyes
Tying thread. 140D or 210D. Not super critical.
I’ll leave the colour combination up to you.

Surf Candy.
#2 gamakatsu sl12s. (Choose a size of hook that you wish to use)
Slinky fibre (olive over white works just about everywhere. Pink/white, grey/white all work well). Huge range of synthetic fibres and even buck tail can be used
Lateral scale flash
Flat 3mm stick on eyes.
Uv glue(I prefer thin, but you can use thick)
Tying thread.

At the last meeting Steve B said there was an abundance of fly tying expertise within the club. This was on display last Sunday with punters willing to tap into this expertise, whether to learn a new pattern, improve on existing patterns or learn new tying techniques. A lot of discussion and useful info was swapped too, along with the usual s~^t talk It was the first tying day I'd been to and if you haven't been to one your misssing out.

Hack of the day for me was Brian's way of storing hackles prior to tying.
Although he was relegated to the naughty end of the tables
