The impression has prevailed among anglers for some time past that fly fishing was of no use on the Swan River, but the writer on Saturday last saw a mullet weighing at least a pound caught with a fly resembling a flying ant just about a hundred yards on the city side of the Causeway.

The gentleman who tried the experiment was induced to use a fly by seeing mullet rise after flying ants which settled on the surface and the fly with which he secured his fish was an imitation of the flying ant.
