Hi all,
Admin, trust okay to post here, am hoping this would be of interest to any Flyrodders members here. I've booked with a couple of other ffishers from Perth a fishing adventure of a lifetime to Mahakam, East Borneo, Kalimantan.
Week 1 - (7 - 14 July '23) will be targetting the enigmatic Red ...

Re: Meldrum Clouser
Thanks for that Mike. I suspected I might have underdressed mine especially if they are feeding on Bony Herring, unless of course baitfish are Hardy Heads. Interesting perspective 'Jellybean Effect' imitating a big prawn; most probably the explanation how I fluked a hook-up on a small Woolly Bugger ...

Re: Meldrum Clouser
I remember when I first started fly fishing, I just about lost the whole of my cheap fly line to something serious on the bridge pylons. Following that, I made some cursory attempts at bream, with a rather mixed success. I've very much written off the idea of trying for the elusive Mulloway on fly ...

Re: West Aussie Salmon
Well done Stephen,
Was there weekend before. Covered the whole stretch from Castle rock to Bunkers off the boat and didn't see any Salmon. Place was covered with school of baitfish, especially Bunkers. There seemed to be a resident pod of dolphin having a party there.
Apart from a small resident ...

Re: April Raffel Prizes
Thanks all,
Was saying to Dale, I fish on my own on a tinny and should wear a PFD more than I should. Now that am proud owner of the Water snake PFD (thanks to Flyrodders), I have no excuse. See you on the water.
Keeps safe,
Rubin

Re: Pelian of Sabah
Half your luck Mick. I feel I've only just scratched the surface. Now that I know Pelian will take fly, I shall be returning to our wild rivers in Sarawak and see if I could score a trophy version of the ones I hooked on Masalog. Am back to Aussie now and keeping an eye on what weather is doing for ...

Pelian of Sabah
Totally underestimated the challenge of fly fishing for Pelian. Had to invoke all the 'hunter's' instinct in my blood to get reconnected with the fish of my childhood: stealth, stalking skills, awareness of the smallest of things, like angle of the sun, telegraphic ripples from my missteps etc ...

Re: Salmon 2017
Thought the recent blow might have brought the school back in. Took boat out to check out usual spots in the Sound yesterday; covered a fair bit of ground. Apart from a lone straggler on troll, school's nowhere to be seen. Keen to score one on the new 10wt I've just got. Wondering if I might have to ...

Re: Casting day Sunday 26 June 2016
Perfect day for it. Was there briefly with my grandson, so I wasn't able to stay long to say hi to others. Was good to have a cast with Alex, he was saying, the freshwater open season doesn't apply to the rivers down south this year. I know about Redfin but for trout? After being away for so long ...
