Gudebrod 50lb Butt Leader

Post by Adam » Wed Sep 05, 2012 5:04 pm

Hi all a wield shot but does anyone know were I can buy a spool of Gudebrod 50lb Butt Leader? Or is there something just as good since the gudebrod has been discontinued?

I know the cortland stuff is around but am hearing mixed reports on it.

I've got a dozen or so splices on the backing to do...

Chris at Flyworld had some a while back, but I'm not sure if he's selling off full spools. These guys seem to still have some in stock.

Thanks Tony I emailed with Ray at SeaLevelFlyFishing but the shipping was killing the deal.

Chris used to sell buy the meter, I'll give him a call and see if he still does. No longer advertised on the website though.

I'll keep hunting.

Thanks Andrew very kind of you. I've got myself out of trouble with the little I had left. I managed to find some local look a like braid butt leader. I'll see what it is like, hopefully it will fill what is likely to be a void.

A company has bought the gudebrod equipment and looks like starting to manufacture the stuff again. Not sure on dates.

Thought I should update now that I have used the Talon butt leader in anger. I've spooled it onto some 7, 9 and 11 weight reels. It was put through the ringer on some Exmouth stoppable and did not fail. If your looking for a viable alternative until the gudebrod is back in production this may well be it.
