New fly fishing enthusiast in town
Hi Guys,
I arrived in Perth in the last 3 weeks from Cape Town, South Africa. Since a young age I've been an avid fly fisherman and generally tending toward the salt water scene, but also enjoy the fresh water trout scene. before i arrived, i got myself a new 9wt rig (floating and intermediate sink lines) which I'm keen to get cracking with. I stay close to the Perth CBD. Can anyone suggest some good spots on the river or on the coast and what i can expect to target. thanks in advance and looking forward to meeting other like-minded fly fishermen out there (and becoming a member),
Cheers
Matthew

Welcome aboard Matthew, Common targets for the swan are black bream, flathead, whiting when they are around. the elusive fish in the swan but are successfully targeted by some are giant herring and mulloway at this time of year.
Any beach around perth will provide tailor (usa calls them blue fish) whiting, herring, mulloway and blue spot flat head.
Some spots to plug into google maps to fish
River spots
Point Resolution Reserve, Dalkeith, Western Australia
Narrows Bridge, Kwinana Freeway, Perth, Western Australia
Canning Bridge Stn, Como, Western Australia
Point Walter Reserve, Bicton, Western Australia
as for beach spots hopefully someone else can help as i dont really fish the beach often
Michael
