karratha, dampier and surrounds

Post by wade stenhouse » Wed Sep 16, 2015 9:26 pm

Hey guys, heading up to karratha in a few weeks time for work, got about a 8 week contract up there.
will be towing the 5m center up there. Have fished the area many times mainly spin for the usual suspects, but would love to pop my permit and blue bastard cherry on fly mabye even a barra, any ideas on specific areas to target and what are the best tides to fish for them.

Cheers Wade

A mate who used to live there said the next couple of creeks north of Cane River for Barra and Threadies. Thats all I've got.

I recall that Sept/October is the time for Cobia of Mantas fairly close to Dampier.

Wade I'm very jealous, that's an area that I've wanted to explore/fish for a long time but haven't made it there :( I would say that Troy Sinclair and possibly Paul Cunningham or Steve Windsor would be your best bet on advice for spots/areas to fish and tides in that part of the state ?
