Introduction to Fly-Fishing Sunday 25th October 2015

Post by BrianHarwood » Fri Sep 11, 2015 4:01 pm

Venue: Nedland’s Rugby Club grounds. It's at the end of the
Broadway in Nedlands.

Time: 9.30am start. Will run till around 3.30pm, or when we
all run out of steam.

All welcome, you don’t need to be a member of the
Saltwater Flyrodders

We will start the day with a general run down of how to get you on the
water and hopefully catching fish. This will include rigging from the
reel to the fly, General information about the gear and common knots
best used. We have some very experienced members to take you
through the basics. After an hour or two, you probably are itching to
get your hands on a fly rod, so after a quick Sausage Sizzle lunch. We
will break into smaller groups and get into the real fundamentals of the
sport, casting. If you have your own outfit bring it along otherwise we
will have a few outfits for you to use on the day.
Hope to see you there

Senior's moment ...

Trust me people, you don't want me telling you how to cast. Your loops will wind up inverted ...

Weather is looking good this Sunday for the casting day. There's usually a heap of rods, reels and lines to try out. We will be running an introduction to casting for those interested. The club will also put on a sausage sizzle for lunch. See you there

If I can make it I wouldnt mind trying out some 10wts. The 10wt I have is $65 new, so I want to try out a few decent ones to see if they are worth the investment if anyone will let me have a go of theres?

Cheers,

Dee :)

I'll bring a 10 weight Scott tidal diarmuid... Won't get much better value than 65 bucks though!

Would really like to try a couple of 5 weight lines on my sage pulse that just arrived if anyone is playing around with the lighter stuff...

Looking forward to seeing some of you gurus cast!

Cheers

Hi Dee
Will bring along a Sage Salt 10, as well as a method 10. Love the Salt and think it's one of the best 10 wts around. Will also have some 5 wt lines you can try.
