Hi Dan. I’ve settled on the Rio Bass line. It’s a full floating line with a bulky front taper to turn over the large flies that we use. Will need to special order this line, as it’s not one that Gillies carry in their standard range. I’ve tried a variety of lines over the years, and this is the best by far.
Leader wise, keep it short. 6 - 7 feet. I use all mono, as fluoro tends to drag the flies down. Tippet is 15 pounds. Busted off a few big break fishing lighter tippets. The heavier tippets dont seem to reduce the number of hits.
