Hi Ash,
As Graeme says, I will probably take my boat but I've discovered an issue with the fuel gauge which needs fixing (it always reads "Full") before I'll risk puting it on the water up there, so my PA 12 is currently on standby. I've fished from the Hobie on the Western side of the Cape and shore bashed a couple of spots with some success so might be able to give some advice.

Looking forward to meeting up with everyone and hoping the weather gods will be kind.
Cheers,
Glenn

Hi Boneheads, Dale here from the club Just a few questions for you experienced Boneheads, Is there anyone flying up on Saturday May 2 on QA 1642 and want to share a hire car for the week? please let me know dale@chefdale.com.. Another question, will my BVK 7W fly rod with an Allen Trout 2 reel with 7w Rio floating Outbound fly line, will be enough rod and reel for Exmouth? flats.

Look forward to your input

Cheers

Hi Dale,

I think the 7wt might be a little on the light side. I would have thought an 8 would be minimum to deal with the flies you'd need and the wind if it comes up. You may pull it off though. 9 and 10wts are where I'd be comfortable on the larger flies/fish and an 8wt for the medium fish (I've played with my 6wts up there and had a ball, but only targeting smaller fish.)

At the very least, look for a WF7F/I line to get your flies down a little deeper. The floating line you have will prevent the flies getting to the bottom. Perhaps the 7wt Rio Tropical F/I or a SA Mastery Series Streamer Express Clear Tip 250gn (=7/8wt line) would be good options. The latter will let you get heavier flies out there.

The reel will be fine.

Cheers,

Guys - there will be a briefing at 7pm before the next club meeting Tues April 7.
Chance for the new guys to ask questions and discuss unit allocations.
For those looking for a cheap outfit for Exmouth, the tackle auction normally provides plenty of bargains.

Looking at winds for Exmouth this week I hope it settles down before we head up there. 20+ knots easterlies all week.
