Tying Day Sunday 21 July 2024

Hi all
We are holding a tying day this month instead of the regular field day. Sunday 21st July 2024.
Venue is Swan Canoe Club. 16 Johnson Parade, Mosmon Park.
I'll confirm time once details are finalised.
For this tying day, we'll be setting up several tying stations, that will concentrate on specific flies. For beginners, there will be a clouser/crazy charlie table. Perhaps a table for surf candies (learning tips and tricks of using uv glues). Shrimp flies are always popular.
We're open for suggestions on what people would like to learn to tie, so would appreciate some input from those that are going to attend the day.

We will be tying 4 flies. A Clouser/Crazy Charlie, Clouceiver, Surf Candy, and a Spawning Shrimp.

Clouser/Crazy Charlie
Hook. Gamakatsu SL12 #2/0. Gamakatsu B10S #6.
Eyes. Large hourglass style eyes (3/16) & Medium Beadchain.
Wing material. Will need two colours. Craft Fur for the smaller #6 hook. Bucktail for 2/0 hook.
Flash. Krystal Flash

Clouceiver/Half n Half
Hook. Gamakatsu Sl12 4/0 or Ahrex Bluewater (SA270) #2/0
Eyes. Ex Large hourglass style eyes (7/32)
Tail. Strung saddle white.
Body. UV Polar Chenille Red.
Flash. Saltwater Flashabou Pearl.
Wing. Bucktail White.

Surf Candy
Hook. Gamakatsu SL12 #1/0 or Ahrex Streamer (SA220) #1
Wing. Synthetic materials will last longer. SF Blend, Unique Hair, or Slinky Fibre. You will need two colours. White/Olive, White/Pink, White/Grey, are some popular mixes.
Flash. Flashabou Pearl.
Eye. 3mm Stick on Eyes.
UV Glue & Torch.

Spawning Shrimp.
Hook. Gamakatsu S113H #2 or Ahrex Bob Clouser (SA210) #4
Eyes. Medium hourglass style eyes (5/32)
Hot Spot. Shrimp Pink/Orange Rabbit Zonker
Eye Stalks. Mono eyes or make your own eyes.
Antennae. Tan/Black Krystal Flash
Body. EP Brush 0.75 Shrimp Dub. Tan or sand.
Legs. Rubber legs, Loco legs, Silicone legs. Colour to match.
